Who books the smoking king
Guests who smoke and are tired of standing outside
The obvious one, and the reason the wing exists. You are not stepping out into the rain at 2am, and you are not risking a cleaning charge.
Drivers on an overnight
Park at the door, smoke in the room, sleep. The 24-hour desk means arrival time is irrelevant, and a 24-hour Waffle House is a hundred yards away.
Long-stay guests who smoke
Weekly and monthly rates apply to smoking rooms exactly as they do to non-smoking. For a stay of several weeks, not having to step outside every time is the whole point.
Anyone watching the rate
A king bed and a private bathroom at $72 a night, in a wing where smoking is allowed.

The room
A king room where you can smoke indoors
Most chains stopped offering smoking rooms years ago. The practical result is that guests who smoke either stand outside in whatever the weather is doing, or smoke in a non-smoking room and pay a cleaning charge for it. We kept ours, in a wing of their own, and priced them the same as the equivalent non-smoking room rather than charging a premium for something that is hard to find.
This is the same layout as our non-smoking king: one king bed, sleeping two, with the floor space that comes from having a single bed rather than two. What differs is the wing it sits in. Smoking rooms are grouped together in a separate part of the property, which is what makes the arrangement work for both sides — smokers are not restricted, and guests in the non-smoking wing are not affected by them.
The room itself has the same fittings as every room here: free WiFi with no login page, cable TV, air conditioning you set yourself, a mini-fridge, a microwave and a private bathroom with towels changed daily. The door opens directly onto the property, and parking is free immediately outside it.
The rate is $72 a night, with no cleaning fee or surcharge for a smoking room.
Practical detail
How the smoking wing works
- Smoking rooms are in their own wing rather than scattered through the property, which is what allows both room types to be what they claim to be. The cleaning charge that applies elsewhere for smoking indoors does not apply here, because this is the room designed for it.
- Exterior access means you step from your door straight outside if you would rather smoke in the air. Parking is directly outside the room, and the lot stays lit through the night.
- The desk is staffed 24 hours, so a late arrival is not a problem. Rooms are held until 8:00 PM on the arrival date — call if the drive is running long and it stays held.
- Quiet hours run 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM and are enforced across both wings. Housekeeping comes daily with fresh towels.
Included in the rate
What is in the room, and why it matters
Free WiFi
No login page, no device limit and no daily charge. If you are working from the room or streaming in the evening, it is one less thing to sort out at the desk.
Free parking at the door
Rooms open directly onto the property with parking immediately outside, so luggage and tools go straight in. The lot stays lit through the night.
Air conditioning you control
The thermostat is in your room, not on a building system. Guests sleeping during the day set it how they want it.
Mini-fridge
Milk, medication, leftovers, tomorrow’s lunch. On a stay of more than two nights it stops being a nicety.
Microwave
Reheat what you brought back rather than going out again. Guests on weekly rates use it more than anything else in the room.
Cable TV
A flat-screen with cable channels, which on a long evening in an unfamiliar town is worth more than it sounds.
Private bathroom
Every room has its own, with towels changed daily and more available from the desk at any hour.
Daily housekeeping
Rooms are serviced every day. If you are sleeping days, tell the desk and we will skip yours and leave fresh towels instead.
24-hour front desk
Someone is at the desk at every hour, so arrival time is never the problem it is at properties with a check-in window.
Food delivery welcome
Drivers can bring orders to your room door or leave them at the desk. There is no restaurant on site, so this is how most guests eat in.
The area
What is open late nearby
This stretch of Old Dixie Highway stays open later than most of Clayton County, which is useful if you are arriving at an odd hour.
- a 24-hour Waffle House about a hundred yards up the road
- Harold’s Chicken Shacks on Southside Commercial Parkway, about a mile south, open until 2am most nights and 3am at weekends
- a 24-hour Texaco on Old Dixie Highway, roughly three quarters of a mile north
- Cantina1942, a Mexican restaurant on Tara Boulevard about a quarter of a mile away that serves until midnight on weeknights and 3am on Fridays and Saturdays
Longer stays
Smoking rooms by the week
Weekly rates start at seven nights and monthly at 28, and smoking rooms are included at the same terms as any other room. For a guest on a long stay who smokes, the arithmetic is straightforward: a room you can smoke in, at a weekly rate, with the same room kept for the whole stay. $72 a night, the same as the non-smoking king — call (770) 305-0300 to check availability for your dates.

Questions
About the smoking king room
Are smoking rooms really still available?
Yes, and we have a good number of them. They are kept in a wing of their own rather than mixed in with the non-smoking rooms.
Is there an extra cleaning charge for smoking?
Not in a smoking room — that is what it is for. The cleaning charge applies only if someone smokes in a designated non-smoking room.
Can I smoke outside the room as well?
Yes. Your door opens directly onto the property, so stepping out is easy if you prefer.
Is the smoking wing noisier?
Quiet hours from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM are enforced across the whole property, both wings alike.
Can I request a specific room in the wing?
Ask at the desk when you check in. They will do what they can with what is free.
Do weekly rates apply to smoking rooms?
Yes, on the same terms as any other room type. Weekly rates start at seven nights and are quoted by the front desk.
What time can I check in?
From 3:00 PM, and the desk is staffed 24 hours if you are arriving late. Check-out is 11:00 AM.
Is parking free?
Yes, free surface parking directly outside the rooms, lit through the night.
Do you take cash?
Yes. Cash or card, paid at the front desk when you arrive.
