Hampton is a short drive south down the same road we are on, and for most of the year it is a quiet drive through Clayton and into Henry County. Race weekends at Atlanta Motor Speedway are the exception: traffic routes along Tara Boulevard and Jonesboro Road past the property, rooms across both counties fill, and rates near the track climb hard. Staying a little further out is the usual answer to that, and it is a straightforward drive in normal conditions.

The property is at 6358 Old Dixie Highway in Jonesboro. On this stretch Old Dixie Highway is US 19/41 — the route that carried traffic south long before the interstate did, and which becomes Tara Boulevard heading further down. I-75 Exit 235 is less than a mile north of the front desk, so whichever direction you are coming from, you are on and off the highway quickly.

Nash Farm Park

A 204-acre park on the Henry and Clayton county line. On 20 August 1864 it saw the largest cavalry sabre charge in Georgia’s history during Kilpatrick’s Raid. Historical markers make a self-guided tour, and there is a free museum, a fishing lake, trails and a playground.
